Development of an analytical method for bio-chemicals

A producer of biobased chemicals needs an analytical method to analyse medium chain fatty acids and small chain alcohols in biomass. KAIN is asked to develop a suitable analytical method. The results are needed to control and monitor the production process.
 
The research question is difficult as other contractors failed to develop a suitable method. Nevertheless KAIN excepts the challenge and starts in December 2015 with the development phase. To be continued......
 


Magic at school

On request of the Beatrixschool in Harfsen Wizard Henk from KAIN Innovations opens the bookweek with a "spectacular" scientific experiment. The aim of the performance was to excite children and to show them that in order to become a good scientist imagination is more important than knowledge. This seemed to work because the various smoke effects and brewages deeply impressed the children. Perhaps a new interesting activity for KAIN ?



Mobile labs for Saudi Arabia

On request of the industrial security division of a company in Saudi Arabia a project proposal was made for the development of a mobile lab which will be used to determine the identity of a selected list of 162 chemicals. The mobile lab(s) will be used to test the nature and composition of bulk chemicals throughout Saudi Arabia.

The list of chemicals merely consisted of relatively harmless chemicals, but also contained a number of dangerous substances, such as explosives or ingredients for explosives. The presumed aim of the client is to check that bulk chemicals are properly labelled and do not contain forbidden substances instead. Read more »
